About Acquisition Desk

Built to help buyers make better acquisition decisions.

Finding businesses for sale has become easier. Deciding which opportunities are worth pursuing and managing everything that follows has not. Acquisition Desk gives buyers a structured workspace for screening, analyzing, and pursuing small-business acquisitions.

Why it exists

There are plenty of places to find deals. Buyers need better tools to evaluate them.

Acquisition Desk was created after identifying a clear gap in the small-business acquisition market. Numerous marketplaces, broker sites, and listing platforms help buyers discover businesses for sale, but far fewer tools help them determine which opportunities are actually worth pursuing.

The deal-screening tools that do exist are often limited to a basic calculator, spreadsheet, or downloadable template. They may estimate a loan payment or calculate DSCR, but they frequently stop before the harder work begins: understanding the assumptions, identifying risks, comparing the opportunity with the buyer’s goals, preparing better questions, and managing the diligence process.

Acquisition Desk was built to connect those pieces. It helps buyers define their Buy Box, screen opportunities against their goals and constraints, analyze the financials, expose missing information, organize diligence, and move through each deal with a more consistent and informed process.

Product evolution

From deal calculator to buyer-side operating system

Acquisition Desk began as a practical way to model an acquisition and understand whether the numbers worked. It has evolved into a buyer-side operating system that supports the journey from the first listing through closing readiness.

Start with the buyer

Define a Buy Box around the industries, geography, deal size, ownership expectations, financing needs, and outcomes that matter to you.

Make the numbers understandable

Evaluate financing assumptions, debt service, DSCR, required buyer cash, post-debt earnings, retained cash, and other core deal economics.

Expose what still needs to be verified

Turn incomplete listing information into visible assumptions, risks, questions, and diligence priorities.

Keep the entire opportunity connected

Bring deal details, analysis, updates, documents, pursuit materials, and buyer-side guidance into one organized workspace.

Josh Pickering

Founder, Acquisition Desk

Acquisition Desk began with a clear gap in the small-business acquisition process.

Finding businesses for sale had become relatively easy. Evaluating whether an opportunity was worth pursuing, understanding the assumptions behind the numbers, and managing diligence were still fragmented.

Buyers had listing marketplaces, spreadsheets, calculators, generic AI tools, and professional advisers, but no central system for the full evaluation process. Many screening tools produced a few financial outputs without helping buyers define what they wanted, identify missing information, prepare for diligence, or keep the opportunity organized.

Acquisition Desk was created to provide that missing buyer-side infrastructure. It gives buyers a structured way to define a Buy Box, screen opportunities, analyze the numbers, identify risks, prepare better questions, and manage the path through diligence.

Decision support, not a replacement for professional advice

Acquisition Desk does not broker businesses, provide financing, or replace legal, accounting, tax, lending, investment, or other professional advisers. It helps buyers organize information, model scenarios, identify assumptions, surface risks, and prepare better questions for the people supporting their acquisition.
